Virginia (Jimenez) Martinez, age 97, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Carlyle House in Framingham.
Born in Guayama, Puerto Rico on November 20, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Epifanio and Hortencia Jimenez. Virginia was raised and educated in Puerto Rico. She moved to New York and later settled in Maynard and Marlborough to raise her family.
Family always came first. Virginia had a passion for cooking. She loved to prepare traditional Spanish meals and have the family all get together. She was kind hearted, hardworking and had an endless capacity to love and welcome people into her home.
She is survived by her children Santiago Ortiz and wife Rosa of Florida; Gonzalo Martinez and wife Patricia of Clinton, MA; George Martinez and wife Pamela of Hudson, MA; Harry Martinez and wife Cynthia of Pawtucket, RI; seventeen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many extended family. Virginia was predeceased by her daughter Mercedes Pagan of Buffalo, NY and her siblings Lettie Gonzalez, Martha Pomales, Edie Jimenez and Jesus Jimenez.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Virginia on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Her service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
