Violet "Vye" A. (Dow) Lombardo

Violet (Dow) Lombardo A. "Vye" age 96 of Maynard passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Life care center of Acton. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Lombardo.

Born in Hubbardston on August 2, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Emma (Hodgkins) Dow.

Raised and educated in Worcester, Vye graduated from Worcester High school. She attended The Massachusetts Nursing School and obtained her LPN in 1956. Vye worked as a head nurse at the Walter E. Fernald Developmental Center in Waltham MA for over 20 years.

During her spare time and in her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, gardening, collecting teddy bears and Rose bushes. She was an active member in several churches in Worcester. Vye and her grandson Bud enjoyed their trips together to Disney in Florida when Bud was a child.

Family survivors include her daughter Gayle Parker of Northborough and her son David Benware, currently in the Philippines. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Wayne Benware.

She was also survived by her grandson Bud Parker and his wife Janine of Maynard as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather for a graveside service on Saturday, May 16 at 11:00 am at Glenwood Cemetery, Parker Street, Maynard.
