Thampi Thomas, age 73 of Waltham, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 10, 2025. He was the loving husband of Sosamma (Jacob) Thomas. As well as a loving father to Ronnie Thampi Thomas, as well as a loving brother and uncle.
Thampi was born in Kottayam, Kerala, India on June 4, 1951, son of the late K.C. and Achamma (Jacob) Thomas. He was raised and educated in Kottayam. Thampi earned his Masters Degree in Chemistry at CMS, Class of 1973. Thampi immigrated to the United States of America in 1977.
Thampi worked as a Fraud Prevention Specialist at Citizen’s Bank for twenty years.
The Christian faith, family and friends was most important to Thampi. He was a parishioner of St. Stephen’s Knanaya Church in Maynard and studied Christian Theology at The International Church of God in Burlington. Thampi was always trying to further The Kingdom Of God through our Lord Jesus Christ by the best of his ability. He had a gift for teaching as he taught Sunday School and was also math and chemistry tutor. He was an excellent cook, loved to sing, and had a reputation for being a sharp dressed man. He was described as one of the “Coolest Uncles” by the youth of the Boston Malayalee community and abroad. He was also known for his non-judgmental, and positive attitude. Thampi’s son Ronnie describes him as “The greatest dad a son can ever have and is proud to call him his father.”
Thampi is survived by his wife, Sosamma Thomas of Waltham, MA; his son, Ronnie Thampi Thomas of Waltham, MA; his siblings, Babu Thomas of Philadelphia, PA; Sajan Thomas of Philadelphia, PA; Babykutty Thomas of New York, NY; Kunjumol Abraham of India; Valsa Abraham of India; and Jayamol Joseph of Newton, MA. Thampi was predeceased by his first son, Michael Jacob Thomas (Baby Thomas) and brother Prasad Thomas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Thampi on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. His Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Stephen’s Knanaya Church, 182 Main Street, Maynard. Burial will follow at Saint Bridget Cemetery, Maynard.
