Susan E. (Solo) Dunn

November 10, 1943 — March 30, 2017

Susan Ellen (Solo) Dunn, age 73, of Maynard, MA passed away in her sleep Thursday morning, March 30, 2017 after her battle with lung cancer. She was the daughter of the late Eleonore (LaFlamme) & John Solo of Arlington, MA. Susan is survived by her three children, Michael Dunn, Christopher Dunn and his partner Brian Potter, and Monique (Dunn) Harpin and husband Timothy Harpin, as well as six grandchildren, Michael's two daughters, Emily & Michelle and Monique's & Timothy's four children, Kaila Marie, Timothy Jr., Vincent "Paul" & Rachelle, and her step-daughter, Wendy (Dunn) Noke. Susan also had two sisters, Nancy Solo & Lea (Solo) Grant.

Susan received amazing care at the very end from the wonderful staff of Emerson Hospital Cancer Center and the hospice care staff (The Parmenter Foundation). The family is very grateful for the loving care that Susan received from both organizations. The family would also like to thank three great friends who helped with Susan at the very end, Linda, Paula & Hilary.

Susan loved and spoiled her grandchildren every chance she could, with her love of Christmas that gained her the nick-name "Gamma-Clause" and she always cherished the time with her family. Susan also loved her job of 28 years, driving a bus for the Concord-Carlisle School system, with a majority of her years spent driving for the METCO route to and from Boston, MA. Susan truly enjoyed the company of the children she drove on the bus runs for the many years she worked there. Susan would decorate her bus and celebrate the student's accomplishments every year. At graduation time, Susan would give each senior a personalized gift. Susan was also instrumental in the fight to keep the Concord-Carlisle bus routes running within the town control and to avoid being sub-contracted to private bus companies.

Susan's true love in life were her family, children, grandchildren and all of her students on her METCO bus runs. Susan would attend sporting event and other occasions that all of her children and METCO children were involved with. Susan was also a very talented and creative seamstress and loved knitting & sewing.
