Shirley M. (Carson) Garlisi

Shirley M. (Carson) Garlisi, age 85, of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 18, 2021. She was the loving and dueling sweetheart of the late Charles J. Garlisi Sr.

Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, on October 3, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John and Carrie (Arthur) Carson. Shirley was raised and educated in Waltham. Shirley and Charles married on October 30, 1954.

Shirley worked for the Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard for many years as an Administrative Assistant. She also worked security, retail and a variety of interesting jobs.

Family was most important to Shirley. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley and Charlie enjoyed playing cribbage together. They also enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and especially traveling cross country on their motorcycle and in their fifth wheel camper.

Shirley was predeceased by her son Charles "Chuck" J. Garlisi Jr. She is survived by her children and daughter in-laws, Donna Garlisi of Maynard, Jean Garlisi and wife Judy Bottomley of Hudson, MA; Jack Garlisi and wife Brenda of Hubbardston, MA; Dwayne Garlisi of Westminster MA; her sister, Barbara Joan Schuler and husband Tom of Maynard, Cousin John Foreman (predeceased), his husband Steven, Gerri and family, her grandchildren and their spouses, Shayna, Dayna, Shane and Bri, Jessica and Mike, Tyler, Angela and Eric, Candace, Ryan, Adam, Chad and Britany, Eric; niece Laurie (predeceased) and her husband Ken, children Melissa, Kris, Kerri, Brian and his wife Jess and nephew Rusty, ex-daughter in-law Sandy, her great-grandchildren Anthony, Robby, Kaighdynce, Paisley, Juliette, Logan Lennen, Griffin, Jack and Kendall.

She had close childhood friends who remained part of her extended family throughout her life, Claudia Defreitas (predeceased), her sons Blaine and Donald, daughter Yvonne and her husband Greg, daughters Erica and Ali; Charlie Phelan (predeceased) his wife Diane Phelan, children Nick, Tracy and Alison (predeceased); Carol Justice (predeceased) and her children, especially her daughter Libbie. She also had wonderful relationships with all her children's in-laws.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Shirley on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord St., Maynard, MA 01754. Her graveside service will be celebrated on Thursday November 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery 260 Great Road, Maynard, MA 01754.
