Sally Ann (Chapman) Kangas of Bourne MA, formerly of Maynard, MA, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2026, surrounded by her family.
She was Born Sept 25, 1941, in Concord, MA, the daughter of the late Signe Marie (Kangas) Chapman and Stanley Belmont Chapman Sr.
She graduated from Maynard High School in 1959. Sally and her husband Richard (Dick) were the proprietors of the Elmwood Steam Bath in Maynard from 1964 to 1982. Sally also worked as a hairdresser at Henri’s Hair Stylist in Maynard and later as an administrative assistant at Nashoba Valley Regional High school in Bolton, MA
She loved time with family and enjoyed spending holidays and vacations with them. Her infectious laugh will be missed. She liked walking on the beach collecting shells, doing puzzles, watching the Red Sox games, and fishing on their boat on Buzzards Bay.
She leaves her husband of 65 years Richard "Dick" Kangas of Bourne, MA: sister Betty Kohler of Townsend, MA: two daughters, Deborah Tyser and husband Michael of Bourne, Terri Kangas-Feller and husband Tom of Santa Fe, New Mexico: son Robert Kangas and wife Eva of Bourne: six granddaughters, Shauna Tyser and husband Phil Williams, Holly Maloney and husband Corey, Hanna Inzirillo and husband Matt, Samantha Lewin-Smith and husband James, Sydney Feller, and Kayla Kangas: and seven great grandchildren Eden, Tyser, Penney, Mayble, Eleanor, Sophie, and Analisa: as well as several nieces and nephews and their families. She is predeceased by her brother Stanley Belmont Chapman Jr.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Sally on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private. Afterwards family and friends can gather at Sudbury Point Grill, 120 Boston Post Rd, Sudbury to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The American Lung Association or The American Heart Association.
