Ruth M. (Nilges) Korpi

Ruth M. (Nilges) Korpi age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday November 17, 2016. She was born on April 13, 1924 in Weymouth, MA to Ruth (Billings) and Erich Nilges.

Ruth wore many hats over her lifetime working as a Nurse's Aide at Whitney Homestead, as a house keeper and homemaker. She was also employed at Hudson Locke Co. for many years. She loved gardening and feeding and watching the birds in her back yard. Ruth spent much of her life as a caregiver and was always there to lend a helping hand. She was also very active at her Church and enjoyed helping them decorate for the Holidays and provide her baking skills when needed. Ruth made many happy memories each year having a Labor Day Cook Out for her children and grandchildren, when at the end of the day everyone would go to the garden and pick out their pumpkin for Halloween.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Walfred (Wally) Korpi. She was the loving mother of four children Sharon, Wayne, Gail and her husband Ron, and Paul and his wife Colleen. She leaves behind many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and extended family members. She also is survived by her sister Edith Gallant and brother Arthur Nilges.

Per Ruth's request, a private graveside family service will be held at the family's convenience.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's name may be made to the Mission Evangelical Congregational Church, 19 Walnut Street, Maynard, MA or The Alzheimer's Association or to a Charity of one's Choice.
