Robert (Bob) Stephen Dargiewicz passed away in Nashua, New Hampshire on August 25. 2025 after a long illness. He was 80 years old.
Bob was born on April 28, 1945, to Stephen and Jennie (Luczko) Dargiewicz at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts.
The Dargiewicz family lived in Maynard, Massachusetts. Bob was the youngest of three children. Brother Dick was thirteen years older than Bob and sister Irene was sixteen years older. Their father passed away when Bob was just three years old. Bunia (grandmother) took care of Bob while his mother worked. Dick put together a Lionel model train layout that created hours of enjoyment for Bob. Bob and his mother accompanied Irene, her husband (Veli Kangas) and their three children on their summer vacations. He attended the public schools in Maynard and Acton. In 1973, Bob. along with his mother and aunt, flew to Europe and toured in Poland and Paris, France.
Bob’s first job was with Sudbury Gardens. After that, he worked in the kitchen at Concord's Colonial Inn and then in the cafeteria at GenRad in West Concord. He retired at the age of 56 when GenRad closed in 2001. During his retirement, Bob enjoyed doing paint-by-numbers, going out to lunch, watching re-runs of old sitcoms and listening to music of old-time greats like Lawrence Welk, Boots Randolph, Chubby Checkers and Bing Crosby.
Maynard was Bob’s home for 58 years. During that time, he was a member of Saint Casimir Parish. He and his brother Dick moved to Townsend, Massachusetts in 2003. In 2017, they moved to Rivercourt Residences in Groton, Massachusetts. Shortly after Dick passed away in 2022, Bob moved to Nashua Crossings in Nashua, New Hampshire. The staff at Rivercourt Residences and Nashua Crossings liked Bob and enjoyed their playful banter.
Bob was predeceased by his father Stephen Dargiewicz (1948), mother Jennie (Luczko) Dargiewicz (1998), sister Irene (Dargiewicz) Kangas (2001) and brother Richard (Dick) Dargiewicz (2022). He is survived by his nephew Howard Kangas and his fiancée Deb of Pepperell, Massachusetts; nephew Richard Kangas and his wife Carol of South Acworth, New Hampshire; and niece Barbara (Kangas) Dodson and her husband Jeff of Groton, Massachusetts. Bob has six grandnieces, three grandnephews, four great-grandnieces and four great-grandnephews from Maine to Ohio. Bob will be remembered for his corny sense of humor, his enjoyment of having afternoon coffee along with a sweet treat, talking about the weather and reminiscing about old times in Maynard.
There will be a private funeral service for family to honor and remember Bob at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home in Maynard Massachusetts.
