Richard E. "Dickie" Gorman

Richard E. "Dickie" Gorman, age 68, of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Jimjimian) Gorman.

Born in Waltham on May 15, 1950, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Clara (Benotti) Gorman. Dickie was raised and educated in Waltham. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Dickie and Nancy married on July 29, 1972 and settled in Maynard where they raised their family.

Dickie worked for the town of Acton for twenty seven years as custodian, retiring in 1997. Upon retirement Dickie worked for many Country Clubs as a greenskeeper, most recently the Concord Country Club.

Family was important to Dickie. He loved spending time with his two granddaughter's Sydney and Olivia. He enjoyed his family trips to Old Orchard Beach, Maine and his winters spent in Tarpon Springs, Florida. He loved fried dough, chocolate and ice cream sundaes. He was a passionate Red Sox fan and enjoyed playing golf. Dickie took pride in caring for his lawn and working in his yard. He loved his dog Bella and the time they spent together.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy J. Gorman of Maynard; his three children; David and wife Tamara Gorman of Ayer, Mark and wife Kim Gorman of Ayer, and Susan Gorman of Tarpon Springs,FL; his cherished granddaughter's Sydney Chayse and Olivia Louise; sister Betty Ann Kmieczak of Maine; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers William, Edward "Jimmy", Gerald and Robert Gorman.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Dickie on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Bridget Parish, One Percival Street, Maynard. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Maynard.
