Rebecca E. Finnegan

Rebecca E. Finnegan, age 60, of Newburyport, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024.

Rebecca was born in Concord, Massachusetts, on December 26, 1963, daughter of the late Deborah E. (Sewall) Finnegan and Paul M. Finnegan. She was raised in Stow, graduating from Nashoba Regional High School, class of 1982. She spent many years as a nanny for several families. Rebecca had a wonderful understanding with children and loved spending time with her young nieces and nephews. She was creative and loved a good joke. Rebecca was happiest living close to the ocean where she spent much of her time.

Rebecca is survived by her siblings, Rose Merrill and husband Glenn of Clinton, MA; Phillip S. Erkkinen of Derry, NH; James P. Finnegan and wife Patricia A. of Ashburnham, MA, her aunt, Susan Dorr of Franklin, MA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Deborah E. Finnegan and Paul M. Finnegan; her brothers, Peter David Erkkinen, Paul Joseph Erkkinen and Matthew M. Finnegan; her sisters, Martha L. Muffoletto and Tamar E. Vernatter; her nephews, Andrew Amato and Adam Vernatter.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Rebecca on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Burial will be private.
