Philip G. Ineson, age 91, of Hudson, formerly of Stow, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023. He was the loving husband of the late Sylvia A. (Hill) Ineson.
Philip was born in Stow, Massachusetts on April 26, 1931, to the late Samuel and Sylvia (Erikson) Ineson. He was raised and educated in Stow. Philip graduated from Hale High School, class of 1948. He went on to attend Stockbridge School at UMass Amherst and received his associates degree in business from Northeastern University. Philip was honorably discharged from the Coast Guard in 1954. Philip and Sylvia married on May 29, 1955 and settled in Stow in 1955 and raised their family together.
Philip worked for Erikson's Dairy delivering milk and making ice cream in his younger years. He worked for General Radio in Concord and Bolton for many years. Philip was also co-owner of HIMCO Sports in Stow.
Philip had a love for the Town of Stow as evidenced by his years of civic duty. He was a volunteer firefighter for 13 years and served on the police department for 22 years (2 years as a full-time officer). He also helped out on the highway and tree departments.
Philip was a charter member of the Stow Lions Club, serving as King Lion and he was also a member of the Maynard Lodge of Elks, serving as the exalted ruler in the past.
Family was most important to Philip. He enjoyed attending all of his children’s sporting events over the years, especially his grandchildren’s. Philip enjoyed golfing and candlepin bowling. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Philip also enjoyed racing his Hudson Hornet at Westborough Speedway. He cherished his time living on Lake Boon in Stow, summers spent in Sebago, Maine at the family summer home and winters in Florida.
Philip is survived by his children, Doug Ineson and wife Donna of Shrewsbury, MA; Dan Ineson and wife Annie of Maynard, MA; Ken Ineson of Hudson, MA; Kristen Camelio of Hudson, MA; Karen Benoit and husband John-Paul of Stow, MA; his grandchildren, Derek, Sam, Andrew, Alyssa, Deanna, Lauren, Erick, Kevin, Tim, Megan, Nicole, Anthony and Amanda; and his great granddaughter, Avery. Philip was predeceased by his son David Philip Ineson.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Philip on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Fowler Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Burial will be private.
