Peter J. Jarvi

Peter J. Jarvi, age 79, of Acton, passed away in his sleep on Saturday, February 4, 2023.

Peter was born in Concord, Massachusetts on January 25, 1944, to the late Jalmar and Sylvia (Freeman) Jarvi.  He was raised and educated in Acton.  Peter proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force from October 18, 1965, to September 2, 1969.  

Peter worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for twenty years, retiring in February of 2006.  He enjoyed spending time with the business owners and employees on his postal route on Main Street, Maynard.  Peter cherished his daily visits to Foley Tile Monday through Saturday.   

Peter enjoyed his daily routine and structure. He was known for his very quirky sense of humor.  Peter was a member of the Charles A. Welch Lodge, American Legion Frank J. DeMars Post No. 235 and Maynard-Clinton Lodge of Elks. He also enjoyed bird watching.     

He is survived by his brother-in-law's, Mario Rossi of Waltham and Jack Bowen of Lancaster, NH; his nieces and nephews; Linda Bedinger of Gardner, Flora Bedinger of Medway, Sabrina Donnelly and her husband Ryan of Raymond, ME, Christina Sullivan and her husband David of Scituate, Tristan Bedinger of Rutland and Christian Rossi and his wife Darlene of Winchendon.  He is predeceased by his parents Jalmar and Sylvia Jarvi, his sister Sylvia (Marquerite) Rossi, Caroline Bedinger-Bowen, and Peter’s two nephews, Douglas Bedinger, and Louis Rossi. He also leaves other family members and his many friends especially Eileen Heath, Alan, Chris and Paul.    

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Peter on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Fowler Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. His Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home 42 Concord Street, Maynard.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery 104 Concord Road, Acton.  There will be a gathering at the Maynard-Clinton Lodge of Elks 34 Powder Mill Road, Maynard, following the burial.
