Mildred A. (Mark) Hodgess

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred Mark Hodgess of Maynard, MA. She passed away at home on June 20, 2022.

Born in Maynard, MA on September 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lempi Mark.  She attended the Maynard Schools and was married to her Junior High School sweetheart, Albert Hodgess for 58 years before he passed away in 2007.

She attended the Mount Auburn School of Nursing.  She worked as a nursing administrator for the Bedford VA for several years.  She even maintained her nursing license well into her 90’s.

She loved traveling with her husband to Aruba and spending time at their homes in Maine and Vermont.  She was very artistic, and enjoyed oil painting, sewing, crafting, and decorating. She loved spending time with her family especially at her home in York Beach, ME.

Towards the end of her life she had many medical challenges which she worked extremely hard to overcome and never gave up.  She used to say it was her Finnish SISU!

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She is survived by her daughters Deborah Watt and her husband Bill Watt, and Lisa Ober and her husband Chris Ober, her grandchildren Alysson Bean and her husband Ryan Bean, Will Watt, Jessica Ober, and Christopher Ober.  She was thrilled to be a great grandmother to Aila and Declan Bean.
