Mildred E. (Ayer) Gifford

Mildred E. (Ayer) Gifford, age 83 of Acton, formerly of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 2, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Weston Briggs Gifford Jr.

Mildred was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on January 7, 1939, the daughter of the late William E. and Anna (Rowe) Ayer.  She was raised and educated in Nashua, NH.  Mildred and Weston married on July 4, 1969 and settled in Maynard in 1977 where they raised their family. 

Mildred was a longtime parishioner of Seeds of Faith Community Church in Harvard, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.  She also enjoyed playing the piano, reading, and spending time with family, especially her loving grandchildren.  

She is survived by her two sons; John Weston Gifford of Acton, MA and Joseph David Gifford and wife Kathy of Marlborough, MA; her grandchildren; John Gifford Jr, Michael Gifford, Ian Gifford and Reese Gifford.  She was predeceased by her siblings; William Ayer, Jr, Lucille Dumont and Phyllis Swanson.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Mildred on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard.  Her funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., also at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery, 107 Amherst Street, Nashua, NH 03064.
