Matthew P. Steen

Matthew Patrick Steen, age 24, of Hudson, MA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.  

Matthew was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 15, 1999, son of Patrick J. and Karen (Herne) Steen.  He was raised and educated in Hudson, graduating from Hudson High School, class of 2017.  

Matthew had an uplifting smile that brightened the room.  He enjoyed riding and mowing the lawn with his dad and cherished time spent with his family.  He loved taking the train to Boston and attending Red Sox games.  Matthew also enjoyed watching The Wiggles, Blue’s Clues, singing and dancing. He participated in Miracle league baseball and Special Olympics where he won numerous trophies.

Matthew is survived by his parents, P.J. and Karen Steen of Hudson, MA; his grandparents “Nanaboo” Debbie & “Grandpa” Herbie Racine of Shirley, MA; his Grandfather, Patrick Steen of Springhill, FL; his Aunt, Brenda Steen of Shirley, MA; his Cousin, Koady Palinkas of Mountain House, CA; his “Grammy” Eileen Starr of Bellingham, MA; his “Gumpa” John Herne of Upton, MA; his Uncle, JJ Herne and wife Laurie of Uxbridge, MA; his Cousin, Hannah Herne of Uxbridge, MA; his Uncle Jimmy & Aunt Kerry Cooper & cousins Ryan & Justin Cooper of Shirley, MA; his Aunt Nikki and cousins Danny Jr, Liam, and Quinton of Leominster, MA. Matthew was predeceased by his Uncle Danny Steen and Grandfather Jack Starr.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Matthew on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning Street, Hudson MA 01749. Burial will be private at a later date.
