Mark-Bryan Howell, age 65, of Acton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. He was the loving husband of Helen L. (Pollari) Howell.

Mark was born in Riverhead, New York, on July 28, 1958, son of Stuart P. and the late Katharina (Herber) Howell. He was raised and educated in Concord, New Hampshire, graduating from Concord High School, class of 1976. Upon graduation, Mark continued his education at the University of New Hampshire, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, class of 1980. He was in the Sigma Nu fraternity at UNH. Mark earned his Master of Computer Science from the University of New Haven, class of 1983. Mark and Helen married on May 16, 1987, and settled in Acton to raise their growing family together.

Mark worked as a Software Engineer for several tech companies including IBM and most recently Fisheye Software of Maynard.

Mark cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and soccer as they grew up in Acton. Mark had a passion for volunteering for the American Red Cross, The Boy Scouts, Troop 284 of Acton and at St. John Lutheran Church, Sudbury. He was also a member of the church choir, treasurer and on the church council. Mark was an avid reader, his favorites being Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. 

Mark is survived by his wife, Helen L. Howell of Acton, MA; his sons, Benjamin Marak Howell of Rutland, MA; Devin Christian Howell of Providence, RI; his father, Stuart Payne Howell of Maynard, MA; his brother, Hans-Christian “Chris” Howell of Maynard, MA.

His Memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, ELCA 16 Great Road Sudbury, MA 01776.
