Marion Noreen (Hartin) Hickman, age 94, of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. She was the wife of the late Bobby Glen Hickman for 72 years.
Noreen was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada on July 5, 1931, daughter of the late James and Margaret (Coady) Hartin of Watertown, MA. She was raised and educated in Brighton, Massachusetts, graduating from Mount Saint Joseph Academy High School, class of 1950. Later that year Noreen met the love of her life, Bobby, and they married on July 5, 1951. She then became a Navy wife and traveled throughout the United States with her husband and started a family while he proudly served for 30 years. In 1967 they retired and settled down in Maynard where they lived until their life journey ended.
Noreen found great joy in her garden and with her green thumb had an amazing garden in which she would spend many hours. As her collection of Day Lillies grew so did her love for them. She also enjoyed collecting items such as antiques, pug statues, and The British Royal Family artifacts. Along with this, Bobby would make her beautiful miniature dollhouses where she spent hours of dedication perfecting each little detail giving them a realistic look and feel. The centerpiece of the collection is a recreation of the family homestead on PEI, Canada where she spent her summers. This centerpiece is being donated to a local museum on PEI.
