Marion L. (Budd) Cronin

Marion Budd Cronin died peacefully at Webster at Rye Assisted Living Community in Rye, NH on May 21, 2026, at the age of 105.

The daughter of Vernon and Mary Budd, she was born in Mount Vernon, NY on February 7, 1921. She married her beloved husband George G. Cronin on February 21, 1942. They raised their family in New Rochelle, NY and Concord, MA before retiring to Cape Cod. Mr. Cronin passed on September 20, 2010, after 68 years of marriage. In 2022, Marion moved to Webster at Rye and at the age of 103, she was presented with the legendary Boston Post Cane by the Town of Rye, which honored her as the oldest resident of the town.

After high school, Marion enjoyed working in New York City until she married and left to start a family. Over the years, she volunteered in many capacities, including Girl Scout leader, school librarian, art teacher, hospital volunteer, and a favorite babysitter for all of her 7 grandchildren. Throughout, Marion’s awesome art and design skills were evident in everything she did. She eventually returned to work as a visual display artist, creating window and floor displays for Concord businesses until her retirement.

Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Ryan and her husband Robert, of Exeter NH and Mary Ellen Kunesh and her husband Charles, of Barnstable MA; grandchildren Jennifer, Jason, Jarrett, Eleanor, Travis, Jessica and Myles; seven great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Kathy Anne Cronin, and by her brothers Robert and Kenneth Budd.

A funeral mass will be held on May 29 at 11a.m. at Holy Family Parish, Monument Sq., Concord MA, with burial at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord. There will be no viewing hours.
