March 31, 1930 — May 19, 2025

Maynard

Margaret Buchannan Cameron (Crowe) Mallinson, age 95, of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025. She was the wife of the late Herbert W. Mallinson.

Marge was born on March 31, 1930, in White Plains, New York, the daughter of the late John S. and Jessie (McNee) Crowe. Proud of her Scottish heritage, she was raised and educated in Maynard, graduating from Maynard High School, Class of 1948. It was there she met her future husband, Herb. The two shared an early connection, not only as classmates, but also as dance partners, earning the title of 'Best Dancers' by their senior class. They were married on July 8, 1956, at the Union Congregational Church in Maynard.

Early in her career, Marge worked in administration for several firms. She then embraced her most important role as a full-time mother, pouring her energy and love into nurturing her family. Later, she found joy in customer service roles at local bakeries, where her warm demeanor and friendly nature made her a favorite among patrons.

Marge had a spirited and creative soul. She brought joy to many through her performances in community theater and her voice in the church choir. In her later years, she found a special sense of purpose volunteering at the Acme Theater, where her presence left such a mark that a section of the theater, with a “bird’s eye view”, was fondly named 'The Crowe’s Nest' in her honor. Marge also expressed her creativity through poetry, writing throughout her life and thoughtfully crafting personalized poems for each family member’s birthday, a tradition that became a treasured gift from the heart.

Marge drew strength and comfort from her faith. A lifelong member of the Union Congregational Church in Maynard, she generously gave her time, serving in leadership roles, organizing fundraisers, and offering compassion through visitation ministry. In recognition of her dedicated service, Marge was honored with the title of Deacon Emeritus, becoming the first woman in the church’s history to receive the distinction.

Family was at the heart of Marge’s life. Known affectionately as "Gam" by her six grandsons, she was an ever-present and active part of their lives, reading stories, playing cards, attending their events or simply listening to their latest adventures. She especially treasured holidays, celebrating milestones and family vacations, when everyone could be together. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by those she loved.

Marge is lovingly remembered by her children Todd Mallinson and his wife Tina of Ithaca, NY; Scott Mallinson and his wife Jane of Chester, NH; and Dawn Waddell and her husband Rob of West Dennis, MA. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, Ryan, Troy, Cameron, and Mark, as well as her beloved great-granddaughters, Lily Margaret and Poppy James.

Services will be private.

To honor Marge’s memory, the family suggests donations to ACME Theater, 377 North Avenue, Weston, MA 02493 (www.acmetheater.com) .
