Lyyli M. (Kemppinen) Nelson

Lyyli M. (Kemppinen) Nelson age 98 of Falmouth formerly of Maynard passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Atria Woodbriar Assisted Living in Falmouth. She was the wife of the late Forrest W. Nelson Sr. who died in 1982.

Born in Maynard on June 7, 1917 she was the daughter of Finish immigrants Pekka and Hilma (Klemola) Kemppinen.

Lyyli and Forrest married on July 10, 1940. They remained in Maynard where together they raised their loving son.

Lyyli worked for many years at General Radio in West Concord. She enjoyed needlepoint, cooking, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She also traveled to her native home land of Finland and also Hawaii, Alaska and Morocco.

She is survived by her son Forrest W. Nelson, Jr. and his wife Beverly of Falmouth, her grandchildren Christine and Greg and her great-grandchildren, Eliot, William and Phoebe.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Lyyli on Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 10:00-11:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am in the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard.
