Lucille Ann Crotty

Lucille (Lucy) Ann Crotty, 84, of Stow, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and home aide after a long illness.

Lucy was born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts on January 4, 1942. She attended St. Jean-Baptiste School. The lessons were taught half in French and half in English. It was there that she learned a strong work ethic that remained with her for the rest of her life. In high school grades she belonged to the “Jeanette’s Drum and Bugle Corps”. She played the bugle (solo) in front of thousands of people and travelled quite extensively competing with other Drum and Bugle Corps. This was a memory that was cherished always in her heart. Lucy also worked her high school years at the St. Jean -Baptiste Rectory until she graduated in 1960.

After graduation, Lucy started working for General Electric. When she moved to Maynard, she worked at Raytheon to be closer to home. Lucy also became a real estate agent with her husband Paul (working for Century 21 for several years and then she and Paul owned their own business for a while). She eventually worked at Digital, and lastly as a lunch lady at her youngest son’s school.

Lucy met the love of her life, Paul, on a blind date set up by one of her best friends, Pat. She and Paul married and moved to Maynard in 1964, where they started to raise their family. Eventually they moved to Stow where they settled permanently. She and Paul were married for 43 years, until Paul’s passing in 2007.

Lucy loved her family deeply and was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. There were a lot of sports and activities. Many car rides. A lot of homework. The kitchen was always busy. Lucy was a great cook. There were endless amounts of cookies, brownies, and “pets de souers”, a beloved French pastry; as well as cooking family meals and old family recipes.

There were many vacations with the children that centered on visiting family and seeing beautiful sights throughout North America. Some of the favorites in the US included Virginia, Florida, New Hampshire, and in Canada it was New Brunswick, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Lucy loved animals. She always had a pet. Dogs, cats, fish, turtles and birds. Some of her pets included Tiger, Simon, Gus, Spanky, Olly, Molly, Emily, Coco and Emma. A turkey befriended Lucy one year and lived on top of her car for several months.

Music was a big part of life. Lucy came from a very talented family. When she grew up, everyone in her family would play an instrument and they would jam together for hours during get togethers. Lucy played by ear. She could listen to a song one time and be able to play it on the piano instantly. Every morning she would play the piano for about an hour. Any time she got a chance, she would play music with family and friends. Especially, with her sister Claudette.

Lucy and Paul had many lifelong friends and neighbors. They loved their extended family. They had many different kinds of get togethers and game nights. Holiday’s, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, were a very special time with family and friends.

Lucy was very kind and caring and always thought of others. She loved to joke around and had a great sense of humor. Everything had sentimental meaning and everything in her home had a story. All of her gifts were displayed with genuine gratitude.

When Paul died it broke Lucy’s heart. Some of Lucy’s light died. Eventually, she joined a very special group of widowed women who brought that light back. They would do different activities together and have fun. Once again Lucy loved going on car rides, going out to restaurants and to get ice cream at local ice cream shops, loved listening to music, and attending flea markets.

Lucy will be deeply be missed. She has suffered for a long time and is finally at Peace. She would always say “I love you more”. The truth is “We love you more, Mom”.

Lucy is predeceased by her mother Emelia M. (Richard) LeBlanc and her father Wilfred L. LeBlanc of Hampton, NH; her husband Paul V. Crotty, of Stow, MA; her brother Phillip LeBlanc of Boston, MA; and her sister Claudette McLaren of Hampton, NH.

She is survived by her brother Roger Leblanc and his wife Vicky, of Jacksonville, Florida; by her daughter Michelle King and son-in-law Daniel King, of Maynard, MA; her two sons Michael Crotty and Jason Crotty of Stow, MA; her granddaughter, Samantha Crotty, of Townsend, MA, and her sister-in-law, Judith Peterson, of Maynard, MA. Additionally, she is survived by 11 nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lucy’s nurses and caregivers over the years, especially Vasline Mirand.
