Leslie M. (Miller) Derby

Leslie M. (Miller) Derby, age 70, of Northborough, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023. She was the loving wife of Keith A. Derby.

Leslie was born in New Rochelle, New York, the daughter of Arthur G. and Nancy (Pettersen) Miller. She was raised and educated in Sudbury, graduating from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in 1971. Leslie continued her education at the University of Vermont earning her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, class of 1975. Leslie and Keith married on October 10, 1982, and settled that same year in Northborough to raise their family.

 Leslie worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist for forty-four years. Most of those years spent at Marlborough Hospital and later at UMass Memorial Hospital, retiring in 2019.

Family was most important to Leslie. She cherished spending time on Long Lake in Maine with her family and close friends. Leslie enjoyed making reed baskets, teddy bears, quilts and creating many sewing and knitting items. She also enjoyed winter skiing, snowshoeing, and gardening. She loved spending time hiking over the years with her beloved dogs: Abby, Koby and Gibbs.

 Leslie is survived by her husband, Keith Derby of Northborough, MA; her sons Nick M. Derby and wife Samantha of Walpole, MA; Kyle M. Derby of Hudson, MA; her grandchildren Parker and Brooklyn of Walpole, MA; her brother “Dusty” Miller and his wife Rose of Washington State and David Miller and his wife Lisa of Texas and nieces and nephew.

 Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Leslie on Wednesday, December 27, from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Leslie’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
