Kevin Chambers passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11th at the age of 77. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. in January 1948 to the late Joseph and Margaret (Brosnan) Chambers, Kevin spent his adolescence in East Durham, N.Y. in the Catskill Mountains and his high school years along the Jersey Shore in Long Branch, N.J. He attended Shore Regional High School, where he was a member of championship teams in baseball and football.
He graduated from Georgetown University with a finance degree in the spring of 1970. While on the Hilltop, he was a member of the football team and Air Force ROTC. His association with the university was a source of tremendous pride. As a member of the Hoya Hoop Club he attended many games during the Hoya Paranoia years of the 1980’s including being present at the Kingdome in Seattle for the school’s lone national championship in April 1984.
He married Marilyn (Parmenter) after his college graduation and earned his MBA from Rutgers soon after. He worked for Price Waterhouse and would eventually settle in New England, forging a long career in finance at Digital Equipment Corporation. He helped raise three children primarily in Groton, Mass. More recently he lived in Harvard and then Maynard.
Kevin loved cars and was a student of history, with a particular fondness for the Civil War. He was an animal lover and was predeceased by three beloved West Highland White Terriers. He loved his hometown Brooklyn Dodgers especially his boyhood hero Duke Snider. He relished the glory years of the Green Bay Packers of Vince Lombardi. Upon moving to the Boston area, he became a New England Patriots season ticket holder, suffering through many lean years in the decades that followed before the joy of the team’s dynasty era in the 2000’s.
He believed strongly in education and sacrificed so that his children could attend the best schools. He is survived by his three children: Kevin Jr./KC of Stowe, VT, Geoff of Nashville, Tenn., and Kimberly (Fox) of Wayland.
