Kathleen Sullivan, proud mother and grandmother, died peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Burlington, Massachusetts, at the age of 79, following a short illness.
Born of Irish heritage on January 22, 1946, in The Bronx, New York, the former Kathleen Rowan was the daughter of the late John and Eileen Rowan, and the sister of Maureen Fredericks. Kathy called New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts home during a proud and distinguished life deeply rooted in the Roman Catholic faith.
As she raised her children, Anne Marie and Timothy Jr., in Bergen County, New Jersey, Kathy worked as an administrative professional at Marcal Paper Mills, Inc. in Elmwood Park, before matriculating to an esteemed career at KPMG, one of the world's most recognized accounting firms, in Montvale. She helped usher in the firm's hub relocation to suburban New Jersey in 1986.
When she relocated to Massachusetts, Kathy worked at Wellesley College, where she enjoyed the academic environment. In retirement, Kathy found restful days across New England, in Natick and Concord, Massachusetts, close to her daughter and sister, establishing new inroads along the way.
A beacon for education at all points of life and career, Kathy watched from afar, as her children garnered five degrees, her daughter from the University of Scranton and the University of Rochester, her son from Duquesne University, the University of Nebraska and the University of Miami.
A devoted aunt to Vanessa Fredericks and mother-in-law to Amy Sullivan, Kathy was grandmother to Sara Sullivan and the late Timothy Sullivan III.
Kathy will be remembered and honored on Friday, June 20, with visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home in Maynard, Massachusetts, followed by Catholic mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bridget's Church, also in Maynard.
In lieu of flowers, the Sullivan family requests donations to be made, in Kathleen's honor, to St. Edmund's Retreat, a collaborative Catholic community located on Enders Island in Stonington, Connecticut. Information can be found at https://endersisland.org/memorial-and-honor-gifts
