Katherine B. (Bernier) Thorp

Katherine B. (Bernier) Thorp, age 77 of Maynard, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on October 29, 2016. Born in Portland Maine, on August 6, 1939 she was the daughter of the late George Matthew and Lillian T. (Wallace) Bernier.

Raised and educated in Newton, Katherine graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1957. She also attended and was graduated from The College of New Rochelle, class of 1961. Kathy worked at Gould's clothing in Acton for over 30 years. She loved beautiful things and considered the Gould's community her second family, employed there at the time of her passing.

Kathy enjoyed playing golf, bridge and bowling. She loved animals, cats in particular, and made donations to many animal and wildlife organizations. Kathy loved to travel, making many trips with friends and family. Spending time with family was important, especially with her cherished granddaughters Mia and Zoe, whom she enjoyed visiting in California.

Kathy is survived by her children John M. Thorp Jr. (JJ) and his wife Kerry Radcliffe of Richmond, CA, Margaret L. Thorp from Richmond, CA and her two granddaughters Mia and Zoe Thorp. Kathy was the sister to the late Paul Bernier and late George M. Bernier.
Kathy volunteered to work as an election official in Maynard for many years.

She would want you to vote. She is also a lung cancer survivor. She would implore you to get a chest x-ray.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date to honor and remember Katherine.

Burial will be private.
