Joseph F. Worthington

July 13, 1983 — October 4, 2024

Maynard

It is with great sadness that we are announcing the passing of:

Joseph “Joe, Joey” F. Worthington, age 41, of Maynard, who left us suddenly on Friday, October 4, 2024. He was the loving husband of Kristal Cormier Worthington and loving father to Grayson and Hayden Worthington.

Joe was born in Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York on July 13, 1983, son of the late George J. Jr., and Mary F. (Saneski) Worthington. He was raised and educated in Riverhead, New York, graduating from Riverhead Sr. High School, class of 2002.

Joe worked for the town of Maynard Water Department for the past four years where he excelled in his work and shared his talents. Prior to that he was employed with the Town of Wayland.

Joseph and Kristal married on June 13, 2015, and settled in Maynard in 2020 to raise their growing family together. Joe and Kristal’s first date was at Fenway Park at a Red Sox/Yankees game in 2013 (being from New York, he was a closet Red Sox fan). Joe enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family. Friday Night “Date Night” soon became Family “Date Night” at the PC and will be missed by all who shared those times with us.

Joe’s passions were bringing his children to Monster Jam and country concerts. He followed in his Dads footsteps by teaching Grayson the Worthington ways of the garage by fixing dirt bikes, motorcycles and monster trucks. He loved driving Hayden around riding shotgun in the monster truck and their trips to the grocery store to pick out the menu for the night, including the type of ice cream for dessert.

Joe enjoyed country music, especially Cody Jinks and Sturgill Simson. Joe was a hard worker and true friend to everyone he knew. Selfless acts of kindness and generosity by working on friends’ motorcycles and assisting in other projects in his garage was something he enjoyed the most. He also loved hanging out in his garage with the guys (who were like brothers) just “shooting the shit” and drinking a couple of beers while listening to music.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Kristal Worthington of Maynard, MA; his children, Grayson and Hayden Worthington of Maynard, MA; his in-laws Ray and Diane Cormier of Rochester, NH; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, George J. Worthington Jr. and Mary F. Worthington; his grandparents, Mary and Felix Saneski; Leona and George J. Worthington Sr.

Fly High and Ride Forever with your parents.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Joseph on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Burial will be private. Upon the completion of the visitation family and friends will gather at the Maynard Lodge of Elks 34 Powder Mill Road, Maynard, MA, 01754.
