Joseph G. Borey Jr.

Joseph “Joe” G. Borey Jr., 74, of Maynard passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.  He was the loving husband of the late Sharyn E. (McNamara) Borey. 

Joe was born in Brookline, Massachusetts on January 7, 1949, to the late Joseph G. Borey Sr. and Ellen B. DeLosa.  He was raised and educated in Maynard, graduating from Maynard High School, class of 1967.  Joe and Sharyn were high school sweethearts and married on August 31, 1968.  Upon graduation, Joe enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country from 1967 – 1971 during the Vietnam War.

Joe worked as a field service engineer for GenRad for many years.  He also worked for Aubuchon/Ace Hardware Company, retiring in 2016.

Joe enjoyed attending family sporting events over the years for his sons and grandchildren.  He loved Christmas and hosting family for the holidays.  Joe looked forward to the yearly family trips to Lake Winnipesauke and cherished the time spent together.  He was a big supporter of youth soccer and had a passion for the game.  He was president of youth soccer in the town of Maynard for twenty years.  Joe coached the Maynard High School soccer team from 1994-2000.       

Joe is survived by his three sons, Joseph F. Borey and wife Michelle A. of Maynard, MA; Robert W. Borey of Fitchburg, MA; Jeremy J. Borey and wife Maria A. of Brockton, MA; his cherished grandchildren, Andrew J.J., Daniel R.G, Samantha A.N., Jayla M., Jeremy J. Borey Jr., and his loving niece, Shauna McNamara.  Joe was predeceased by his mother-in-law Marjorie “Ma” McNamara and his Godmother Mary DeLosa.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Joe on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. His Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard, followed by burial at Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard.
