Joan C. Annunziata

Joan C. Annunziata, age 76 of Waltham, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, October 27, 2020.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on August 18, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Anthony J. and Genevieve G. (Wheaton) Annunziata. Joan was raised and educated in Waltham, graduating from Waltham High School class of 1963.

Joan worked as a manufacturing manager at Bell Atlantic Phone Company for thirty years, retiring in 1993. She also worked at McDonald's in Waltham for many years.

Joan loved spending time with her family, especially her two nieces Alicia and Amy and their significant others, Kevin and Pat whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed going to Dunkin Donuts and The Chateau Restaurant with family and friends in Waltham and always saved room for dessert. Joan always looked forward to helping elderly neighbors and entertaining children, as she was a caregiver by nature. She was an avid fan of the WWE and enjoyed taking her brothers to matches when they were growing up. Joan loved all Boston sports and was always wearing a ball cap. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, her specialty being Italian dinners on Sundays. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo and almost always won. She was well informed as she always read the Boston Herald, Waltham News Tribune and Boston Globe.

Joan is survived by her siblings Diane Phelan of Maynard, MA; Susan Palola and husband David of Maynard, MA; Michael Annunziata of Somerville, MA; James Annunciata and wife Denise of Framingham, MA; her nieces Tracy Elder, Alicia and Amy Annunciata; her nephews Nicholas Phelan and Thomas Palola, as well as great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her niece Alison Phelan and brother in law Charles Augustine Phelan III.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Joan on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Her graveside service will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020 in Glenwood Cemetery 260 Great Road, Maynard MA 01754.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware charity.
