Born in Concord, MA in a blizzard and transported to Emerson Hospital on a dray pulled by horses, Jean Lord was a longtime resident first of Concord and then Bedford, MA and Bolton, MA. She was the daughter of Irene (Pedersen) Anderson and Carl F.N. Anderson, both of Concord. Married to Charles Lord (1925-2011) she was the mother of four children: Linda K Mansfield (of Stow), W. Chuck Lord (of Bolton), Stephen Lord (of Bolton) and Jonathan D. Lord (of Hardeeville, SC). Graduated from Concord High School class of 1944, she remained active with her fellow alumni until recently. A long-time employee of Jordan Marsh Company, where she rose from temporary salesperson to running the executive office, she also remained active as an avid bowler up until her 90th year. In addition, she worked for the family farm, Carver Hill orchards, as apple picker and started the Carver Hill Orchard Farm stand.
She was a model 1950’s mother. Den Mother, friend to many, with a large social circle from Voter Volunteer - ten years in Bolton - to Meals on Wheels, for which she drove for twenty-one years and was honored for it. Both Jean and Charles live to travel - a trip to Hawaii, yearly trips to Myrtle Beach, Germany to visit Jonathan while stationed there, three Trans Canada first class train trips to Banff, almost every state in the country and a very special trip to Alaska by plane, boat and train.
