Janet E. Latta

Janet E. Latta, age 73, of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

Janet was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on October 24, 1951, daughter of the late Garfield N. and Doris V. (Fleet) Latta. She was raised and educated in Cambridge, graduating from Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, Class of 1970.

Janet worked as an administrative assistant for the Digital Equipment Corporation and its subsequent companies for 35 years, before retiring in 2008.

Janet had a passion for cooking and baking. She was known for her Italian cookies. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting. Janet had a great sense of direction and enjoyed driving. She always was down for a cup of coffee, especially if it was pumpkin spice.

Janet was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Magdalene Chapter No. 28 for many years. She was also an advisor and chairman of Wamesit Assembly #88 IORG.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Candice Latta of Maynard, MA; her siblings, Donna Watjus of Maynard, MA; Walter Latta and wife Lynda of Maynard, MA; her nephews Wally, Mark and Ben. Janet was predeceased by her brother Richard Latta, brother-in-law Roy Watjus and lifelong best friend Janet (Perry) Hughes.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Janet on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Janet’s Graveside service will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery, 260 Great Road, Maynard, MA 01754.
