Irene M. (Poirier) Cullen

Irene M. (Poirier) Cullen, age 88, of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026. She was the loving wife of the late William J. Cullen.

Irene was born in Grande-Digue, New Brunswick Canada on November 8, 1937, daughter of the late Henrie Luc and Clarinda (Babineau) Poirier. She was raised and educated in Grande-Digue, Canada. Irene and her sister Jeanne moved to Waltham, Massachusetts in 1956

Irene eventually met and married William on September 12, 1965. The couple settled in Maynard in 1968 to raise their growing family together.

Family was most important to Irene. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Irene cherished her time spent at her family beach house in Hampton Beach, NH. She enjoyed watching the TV show, General Hospital, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Irene loved making diamond art. She looked forward to her birthday trip to Las Vegas. Irene also enjoyed her Wednesday lunch group with her girlfriends. She adored her Siamese cat, Ziggy. And spending time with her friends.

Irene is survived by her son, William B. Cullen of Maynard, MA; her daughter, Dawn M. Lindfors and husband Robert J. of Maynard, MA; her grandchildren, Kyle Lindfors and Krysten Gordon; her siblings, Julia Poirier (Leo) of Grande-Digue, Canada; Jeanne Champeon (late Roger) of Framingham, MA; Leonard Poirier (Claire) of Grande-Digue, Canada; Maria Babineau (Louis) of Grande-Digue; Canada; Normand Poirier (Rita) of Grande-Digue, Canada; Florence Goguen (late Aurele) of Sudbury, MA., Pierre Poirier (late Carole) Ontario, Canada.

Irene was predeceased by siblings, Doris Leblanc (late Regis) of Moncton, Canada; Corinne Cormier (late Paul) of Ontario, Canada; Albert Poirier (late Evelyn) of Grande-Digue, Canada; Gerard Poirier (Florida) of Grande-Digue, Canada; Paul Emile Poirier (Carolyn) of Canada.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Irene on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Bridget Church, One Percival Street, Maynard. Burial will follow at Saint Bridget Cemetery, Maynard.
