Helen A. Hill, 94, of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at her home.
Born in Maynard, MA on April 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Arefy Antonovich and Tekla Maximovna (Kravchuk) Hill. Helen and her twin brother Anthony were born at home in Maynard. Helen was a lifelong Maynard resident and graduated from Maynard High School, class of 1941.
Helen worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for forty years as the secretary at the Board of Registration in Nursing.
Helen enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and was fluent in Ukrainian and Russian. She was a parishioner of Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church in Maynard. Her parents were founding members of the parish. Helen sang in the choir and was an active member of the Church. She had a lifelong interest in family and Ukrainian History. Helen looked forward to the annual Christmas parade in Maynard each year and would bake cookies for the kids. She enjoyed passing them out as the parade passed her home.
She is survived by her sister-in-law June Hill of Acton, MA; nephews Greg Hill of Acton, MA; Steven Hill of Gardner, MA; Peter and wife Cathy Hill of Townsend, MA; niece Susan Williams and her husband Robert, of Ohio; great nephew David Hill of Townsend and great niece Kim and husband Mike Wojcuilewicz of Hillsborough, NH; great-great nieces and nephews Michael, Lexi, C.J., and Jameson. Helen was predeceased by her twin brother Anthony Hill and sister Anna Hill.
Funeral Mass, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church 15 Prospect Street Maynard, followed by burial at Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard.
