Harriet Proctor Somers

Harriet Proctor Somers, at the age of 101, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Stow, MA on April 13, 2024.  Harriet and her husband Chester were residents of Lowell, MA for over 50 years.

Harriet was born in Gardner, MA on February 13, 1923, to Florence and Fred Proctor and was the youngest of six children.  Harriet graduated from Gardner High School in Gardner, MA in 1941 and Bryant College in Providence, Rhode Island in 1942.

Harriet worked at UMass Amherst and at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA as an Administrative Assistant.  In her spare time, Harriet was an expert seamstress and knitter.  She also enjoyed swimming, golfing and gardening.

Harriet was predeceased by her husband, Chester and two granddaughters, Ariana Christine Somers and Josie Lauren Gilbert.

Harriet is survived by her four children; Susan Lynn of Stow, MA, Joane Bozek (Tom) of Williamsburg, VA, Karen Outhier (Ronnie) of Sarcoxie, MO and Craig Somers (Mary) of Nashua, New Hampshire.  Harriet is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  A Celebration of Life will be held, at a later date, at Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home in Maynard, MA.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Harriet on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Her Funeral Service will be celebrated at the conclusion of the visitation at 11:00 a.m.
