On November 9, 2024, Gloria T. Corrado (Glo to her family and friends) passed away peacefully. She was 94 years old.
Gloria was born in Charlestown, MA to her late parents Margaret Salerno Thompson and Arthur Thompson. Glo was the middle child to her older brother Arthur (deceased) and younger brother Edward. The children were very close and especially close to their mother. Gloria loved helping her mother with household duties and truly adored her. They remained extremely close throughout Margaret’s life.
Gloria attended Chamberlain Junior college and held many office positions. She loved being in the work force and found employment with the National company along with her two future sisters-in-law (Joan and Elizabeth). It was there she met her loving husband James Vincent Corrado (Vince). They were married in 1957 and lived in Melrose, MA where they had two children, Vincent (Vinnie) and Lynne Mary.
Shortly after Lynne’s birth, the family moved to Willow Grove, PA where Vince held prestigious positions as a senior mechanical engineer. Gloria was a dedicated mother to her son with special needs and daughter, putting their needs first. She stayed home with her children early on but once they were older, wanted to get back in the work force and appropriately took a job as receptionist at Bonwit Teller. Everyone who knew Glo knew she was a fashionista, always matching bags and shoes to each outfit, carefully lying them out each night before work. This was a perfect place for her to re-enter the work force--a fabulous high-end salon in a high-end store.
It was in the stars to move back to her home state of Massachusetts and in 1972 the family moved to Sudbury, MA where they remained for most of their lives. Glo was so happy to be close to her family. Glo adored spending time with family for every holiday and many Sunday dinners at Nana Thompson’s.
Gloria was always intrigued with the healthcare industry and loved working in a hospital setting so it was here where Gloria decided to use her secretarial prowess and kind approach, to become a medical secretary. She worked at Emerson Hospital for many years and then went on to manage several doctors’ offices where patients adored her. Gloria loved people and was loved back. Her gorgeous smile was contagious, and she literally was a flash of light whenever she entered a room. Her nickname Glo-worm was fitting and was spawned from her love of life and people and dedication to making every patient feel peaceful.
Gloria stayed in the health care profession until her last job at Lahey clinic where she worked for many, many years.
She loved her family more than anything, was generous, kind, and loving and did everything she could to support her family.
Gloria is survived by her son Vinnie, daughter Lynne, and son-in-law Mark. She will be missed terribly but now is at peace from the terrible Alzheimer’s disease that haunted her later life.
God bless you, Gloria.
