Gertrude A. (Cuddy) Ojalehto

Gertrude A. (Cuddy) Ojalehto age 82 of Stow and formerly long-time resident of Maynard passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 9, 2016. She was the beloved wife of 62 years to Robert W. Ojalehto.

Born in Maynard on December 13, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Edward and Esther (Larson) Cuddy. Gert was raised and educated in Maynard graduating from Maynard High School. On July 4, 1953 she married the love of her life Robert and together they remained in Maynard where they raised their loving family.

In her early years Gert worked as a switchboard operator with New England Telephone, she also worked in the cafeteria in Maynard High School and also at the Hudson Dress Shop. Her real joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family was the center of her life and she enjoyed hosting holiday, and family gatherings. She enjoyed baking, cooking traveling to the sea coast of Maine and volunteering at the Maynard Food Pantry.

Along with her husband she is survived by her children, Steven R. Ojalehto and wife Mary, Karen (Ojalehto) Carr and husband Bruce all of Maynard; her grandsons, Steven and his wife Christine Ojalehto, and Brian Ojalehto and Michael and Kevin Carr and great-grandchildren Tyler and Brielle. She is also survived by her brother Edward Cuddy and sister-in-law Becky Cuddy of Hudson, sister Lorraine Howes of Bushnell, FL and many nieces and nephews. Her daughter Susan Ojalehto Engen predeceased her.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Gert on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 11:00 am in Glenwood Cemetery, Parker St., Maynard.
