Gerard Kevin Quinn

April 9, 1934 — June 10, 2024

Stow

Gerard Kevin Quinn, age 90, of Stow, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024.  He was the loving husband of Louise C. (Moriarty) Quinn.

Kevin was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on April 9, 1934, to the late Leopold and Helen V. (Kirke) Quinn.  He was raised in Acton and Concord, graduating from Concord High School, class of 1952.  Upon graduation, Kevin continued his education at Boston College, earning his bachelor’s degree in Finance, class of 1956.  He earned his Master of Business Administration from Northeastern University, class of 1974. Kevin and Louise married on February 9, 1963, and settled in Stow to raise their growing family together.

Kevin started out as a columnist writer for the Beacon. He went on to work as a copywriter at Babson’s Reports in Wellesley, later becoming vice president of Marketing. He worked for Babson’s for more than forty years and also served as a trustee of the Isabel Babson Memorial Library in Gloucester. He enjoyed his time as Treasurer/Secretary for the library. As a writer and natural storyteller, he often injected humorous observations and asides in the meeting minutes for the library, as well as in the minutes for the St. Vincent DePaul Society where he was also a board member.

Kevin cherished time spent with family, friends and neighbors. He especially enjoyed the company of his beloved dog, Sam, who rarely left his side. Kevin was a skilled craftsman and woodworker who created multiple built-ins in the family home. Definitely a green thumb, he cultivated roses, lilies, azaleas, clematis and flowering trees in his garden where he spent a lot of time in his later years. He was an avid Red Sox fan, a diehard Boston College football enthusiast and a voracious reader, with a passion for mysteries and historical accounts of WWII. He was active in the Catholic Church and became an extraordinary Eucharistic minister, providing comfort to those in the community who were housebound. Known as a man of integrity who was thoughtful, hardworking and kind, he had five relatives named in his honor.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Louise C. Quinn of Stow,MA; his daughters, Mary L. Rich and husband David A. of Ayer, MA; Helen A. Taggart and husband Dennis D. Jr., of Sandy, UT; Regina G. Coston and husband Mario of Worcester, MA; Margaret R. Quinn of Ipswich, MA; his grandchildren, Dennis III, Derek, Sarah, Kevin T., Kevin R., Pierce, Grace and Faith; and his five great grandchildren.  Kevin was predeceased by his siblings, Vincent K. Quinn, Geraldine Condon and Sr. Constance A. Quinn, r.c.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Kevin on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord St., Maynard.
