Evelyn A. Hodgdon

Evelyn (Abbott) Hodgdon, 95, of Maynard formerly of Newton and Arlington, died Saturday, December 24th at her home in Maynard surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Boston, daughter of the late Alton R. and Mildred B. Abbott (Grey). Beloved wife of the late Charles R. Hodgdon.

Evelyn was a special person who lived to care about and for others, whether it be family or not. Evelyn was known by many for being the 'most giving' person they have ever known. Her volunteering and listening skills came naturally to her. As a young adult, Evelyn worked as a nurse, caring for the wounded. She also worked at Roger's Pierce Day Care in Arlington for 25 years and the Council on Aging in Wareham for a number of years as well as private caregiving.

Evelyn had a natural cooking ability and carried on her mother's recipes for all to enjoy, good old fashioned comfort food and hosting all holidays.
Cherished mother to Barbara H. Reeves (deceased), Marcia Helliwell Moore and Raymond C. Hodgdon. Devoted and proud grandmother to Susan E. Landers, John R. Helliwell, Steven S. Reeves, Debra J. Mulligan, Lisa M. Hodgdon, BrendaLee Hodgdon, Ann Marie Hodgdon and Raymond C. Hodgdon, Jr. as well as eleven great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother Frederick C. Abbott of Colorado Springs, CO; her sister Bernice Nahass of Natick, MA and her brother the late Alton A. Abbott of Natick, MA.

Friends may call at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord St., Maynard on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 AM in Woodlawn Cemetery, 148 Brook St., Wellesley, MA.
