Esther M. (Fougere) Bergin

Esther M (Fougere) Bergin – age 96, of Denmark passed away on Sunday August 9, 2026, at the Woodlands Memory care center with her loving family by her side, she was born on April 15, 1930, in Medford, MA a daughter of the late Alexis and Marceline (LeBlanc) Fougere.

After completing high school, she became a bookkeeper in Boston. She married the love of her life Charles E. Bergin on May 24th 1952. After raising her family, she returned to work in a local business office and a family practice medical office before moving to Denmark Maine where she enjoyed being active in the local community. She enjoyed ten years of friendship with K. Wayne Murray before his passing in 2019.

She loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She liked to bowl and spent many years in the Acton Women’s Bowling League, She was a great cook, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Esther was an avid reader and loved to talk about current events. Bingo and visiting the casino was a favorite retirement activity.

She was predeceased by her loving parents, Alexis, and Marceline Fougere, her five siblings, her devoted husband Charles Bergin, her daughter Debra Elkhoury, her granddaughter Sarah Huber and her great grandson Ryan Mancini. She is survived by her loving children, Karen Mancini and her husband Joseph of Denmark, daughters Pamela Hamwey and Paula Bergin of Florida, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Esther on Saturday August 22, 2026, from 9:00-11:00 in the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord St., Maynard, MA. Her celebration of life will follow at 11:00 am.

Followed by a private family burial.
