Emilia Carmela (Vitagliano) Mariani

December 15, 1931 — October 27, 2019

Emilia Carmela (Vitagliano) Mariani, age 87, of Windham, NH, formerly of Maynard passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Adam John Mariani.

Emilia was born in Pagani, Provence of Salerno, Italy on December 15, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Alfonsa Vitagliano. Raised and educated in Pagani, Emilia moved to England in 1956. Emilia and Adam met through family friends and married on July 9, 1959 in her hometown of Pagani. The couple settled in Maynard in 1959 and raised their family together. Emilia worked for Digital Equipment Company, in Circuit Board production for twenty years.

Family was most important to Emilia. She loved to cook and host family and friends for all of the holidays. She always prepared traditional Italian meals that everyone enjoyed. One of Emilia's favorite meals was lobster; she was always determined not to let any go to waste. Emilia had a passion for poetry. She was the published author of a poetry book entitled My Heart My Temple. She enjoyed writing and collecting poems from other poets.

Emilia is survived by her daughter Anna T. and husband Tom Bradley of Windham, NH; her step-daughter Brenda Maurais of Methuen, MA; her step-son John Mariani and wife Margaret of West Chester, Ohio; cherished grandchildren, Laura and husband Tom Daly, John Maurais and wife Mary, Nicholas Mariani and wife Meghann and Andrew Mariani and wife Elizabeth; great grandchildren, Alicia, Katie, Adam. Also survived by her siblings Franco Vitagliano and Lina Stile of Italy.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Emilia on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 10:00 am at Saint Bridget Parish, One Percival Street, Maynard. Burial will follow at Saint Bridget Cemetery in Maynard.
