Elaine F. (Wilson) O'Meara, age 67, of Maynard, beloved wife of Timothy F. O'Meara, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts on August 10, 1953, Elaine was the daughter of the late Frank L. and Eileen M. (Lynch) Wilson. Elaine was raised and educated in Somerville, graduating from Somerville High School, class of 1971. Upon graduation, Elaine went on to attend Salem State University, earning her bachelor's degree in Education, class of 1975. Elaine and Timothy married on October 9, 1976 in Somerville and settled in Somerville to raise their family together. Elaine went on to attend Cambridge College earning her Master's in Education, class of 1991.
Elaine was a passionate teacher at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Somerville, teaching Grades 1, 4, 5, and Technology. She retired in 2008 after twenty-five years of teaching.
Elaine and Timothy moved to Maynard in 2016 to be closer to and spend time with their family. Family was most important to Elaine. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping for the perfect gift for them, and traveling with them. Elaine was an avid reader, and enjoyed knitting, music, and chatting with her many friends.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Timothy F. O'Meara of Maynard; her children, Sean F. O'Meara and wife Melissa A. of Billerica; Catherine M. Johann and husband Matthew A. of Maynard; her grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Nicholas, Henry and Sarah; and her sister, Jeanne T. Salvo of Revere.
Visitation, Funeral Mass and burial at St. Bridget's Cemetery, Maynard will be private.
Gifts in her memory can be directed to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, or St. Jude's.
