Edith Stainton Woolley peacefully passed away the afternoon of December 17, 2023, at the age of 90.
Edith is survived by her sister, Linda Dehnke, daughter Gail Woolley, daughter Christine Ham and husband David, son Bruce Woolley Jr., 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by loving husband Bruce Clark Woolley, Sr.
Edith was born in Rumford, Maine in 1933 and lived in Massachusetts and New York. She graduated from Bayside High School, Queens College, NY with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught in New York City and Mount Vernon, NY.
Edith married Bruce and together they raised a family in Stow, MA where she lived for 58 years. She was an active member of St. George’s Church, Maynard MA and Trinity Church, Concord, MA. Edith was librarian for the Stow, MA Public School System for many years as well as advocate for special needs in the community including as a volunteer and as a Board Member of Minute Man ARC. The Minute Man ARC agency has been instrumental in Bruce Jr.’s care for many years.
Edith had a creative and generous spirit in service to church, to community and most of all to family. Her family enjoyed her joy of travel, her wonderful festive meals and her love of the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her door and her heart were always open.
Edith will be in our hearts forever.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Edith for her funeral service which will be held in Trinity Episcopal Church, 81 Elm Street, Concord, MA on Saturday December 30, 2023 at 10:00 am with a reception to follow. Interment at 1:30 pm in Brookside Cemetery, 36 Gleasondale Road, Stow.
