Donald S. MacDougall

Donald S. MacDougall, age 85, of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.  He was the loving husband of L. Charlene (Peters) MacDougall.

Donald was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on April 3, 1938, to the late Henry A. and Janet L. (Berry) MacDougall.  He was raised and educated in Cambridge.  Donald enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country from 1955-1959 as an aircraft mechanic. Donald settled in Maynard in 1960 and married Charlene in 1992.

Donald worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in the town of Sudbury for twenty years, retiring in July of 2005 at the age of 67. 

Donald was a great storyteller.  He was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins.  Donald enjoyed painting, doing puzzles and models. Donald had a special interest in anything airplane related. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his wife, Charlene MacDougall of Maynard, MA; his children, Heather MacDougall of Stow, MA; Holly Sweeney and husband Dan of Leominster, MA; Derek MacDougall of Holden, MA; Melinda Peters of Prince Edward Island, Canada; Donald “Dj” Peters of Prince Edward Island, Canada; James Stevenson and wife Ashley of Alberta, Canada; his grandchildren, Patrick, Jenna, Cole, Temira, Tess, Allie, Emma, Emily, Bridget, Meadow, Abby, Owen and Julie; his greatgrandchildren, Patrick, Toby, Grayson and Raiden.  He was predeceased by his brother Henry Alexander MacDougall.   

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Donald on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard.
