Dennis O. Cormier, age 88, of Maynard, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. He was the loving husband of Maria D. (Miola) Cormier.
Dennis was born in Leominster, Massachusetts on March 28, 1938, son of the late Oliver and Emelie (Gionet) Cormier. He was raised and educated in Leominster and graduated from Leominster High School with the Class of 1956. Following graduation, he continued his education by taking courses at a community college.
Dennis and Maria were married on October 24, 1993, and made their home in Maynard. Over the years, Dennis held a variety of positions, including serving as a manager for Friendly’s and Brigham’s. He also worked as a driver for UPS in Worcester and Town Taxi in Boston. Dennis later worked as a process server for the law firm of Nutter McClennen & Fish, LLP. The highlight of that job was meeting his wonderful future wife, Maria. After retirement, he remained active by working part-time as a transportation driver for Bernardi Audi.
Dennis was a member of the Maynard Rod and Gun Club. He was also a Certified NRA Instructor and Massachusetts State Police Instructor for the Basic Pistol and Home Firearms Safety Course for License to Carry and F.I.D. certification.
In his free time, Dennis found joy in dining out with Maria and friends, tending his garden, reading mystery and thriller novels, and woodworking. He especially cherished time spent with his dogs, Jake, Ben, Kasey, Sam, and Teddy.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Maria D. Cormier of Maynard, MA. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Cormier. He was also the father of four children from a previous marriage.
Gifts in his memory are encouraged to be made to the American Cancer Society or Buddy Dog Humane Society.
Cremation will take place to honor his wishes.
