David A. Comeau, age 66, of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023.
David was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 18, 1957, the son of the late Andrew J. and Irene E. (Kohler) Comeau. He was raised and educated in Boston, and graduated from Jamaica Plain High School, class of 1976. He served in the United States Air Force from 1976-1979. David continued his education at Suffolk University earning his Bachelor’s degree in Science, class of 1991. He graduated cum laude and was also a member of the Pi Gamma Mu National Social Science Honor Society.
David worked as a Mail Handler for the United State Postal Service for thirty-five years, retiring in 2015. He also obtained certifications in Woodworking and Income Taxes.
David loved the game of hockey and was an avid Boston Bruins fan. He enjoyed spending time in his vegetable garden, and could always be seen with a cup of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee in hand. David also enjoyed woodworking, being contrarian, scratch tickets, and building dollhouses for his daughters. He loved his cat, Odie, who he rescued as a kitten. David nursed her back to health and provided a loving home for nearly twenty years.
David is survived by his children, Janna Comeau and husband Jay Luiso of Tewksbury, MA; Michelle Comeau and husband Craig Ceremuga of Albany, NY; Laura Comeau and partner Patrick Schofield of Littleton, MA; his sister, Denise Comeau of Foxborough, MA; his brother, Richard Comeau of Norwood, MA; his sister, Anne Zankowski of Mansfield, MA; and his grandchildren Jason and Julia Comeau-Luiso.
His Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the community room at the Maynard Housing Authority, Concord Street Circle.
