Catherine (Gringeri) Lombardi, age 98 of Sudbury, passed away peacefully at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln on Thursday, July 5, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late Anthony P. Lombardi who passed away in 1996.
Born in Boston, MA on May 2, 1920, Catherine was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Caterina (Merlino) Gringeri. She was raised and educated in Watertown. Catherine married Anthony in 1948. They lived in Somerville before moving to Sudbury in 1954 with their daughter Susan.
In her younger years, Catherine worked as a hairdresser and later for Digital Equipment Corporation. Catherine and Anthony loved to fish in Duxbury and off Plum Island for Striped bass. They also enjoyed fishing in Hingham, Scituate and Hull for Smelt. Catherine loved spending time with her grandchildren Kenny and Kim. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at Orchard Hill in Sudbury, where she resided for the past two years.
Catherine is survived by her daughter Susan Clair and her husband Buddy of Maynard, grandson Kenny Clair and his longtime girlfriend, Michele Gilet of Lunenburg, and granddaughter Kim Smoyer and her husband Shane of New Tripoli, Pennsylvania. Catherine was pre-deceased by her sister Florence.
Catherine's family would like to acknowledge and thank Linda Kilmer, Resident Care Director at Orchard Hill for the outstanding care, love and attention she provided to Catherine.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Catherine on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Bridget Parish, One Percival Street, Maynard. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Maynard.
