Carole L. (Whitney) Hardy

Carole L. (Whitney) Hardy, age 88, of Maynard, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, March 6, 2023.  She was the loving wife of George F. Hardy for 68 years.

Carole was born in Concord, Massachusetts on July 28, 1934, the daughter of the late Alton P. and Edith M. (Carr) Whitney. She was raised and educated in Maynard, graduating class of 1952.  Carole and George married on May 15, 1955. 

Carole a loving homemaker her whole life also, worked for Assabet Savings Bank for many years.  She continued her career at the Maynard Housing Authority. After retirement, she continued to work their part time.  

Family was most important to Carole.  She cherished Christmas spent with family and friends and everyone was always welcome at the Hardy home. Carole enjoyed cooking and baking. Saturday nights were a family tradition of homemade baked beans and hotdogs, and everyone savored her apple pie.  Carole and George looked forward to their yearly travels to Dutch Country, Aruba and Wells, Maine. Carole was an avid reader, gardener and crocheted something special for everyone.

Carole is survived by her husband, George F. Hardy of Maynard, MA; her children, David A. Hardy and wife Susan D. of Mohawk, NY; Steven W. Hardy and wife Claudette M. of Maynard, MA; Susan F. Purinton and husband Carl M. of Maynard, MA; Jane E. Hardy of Maynard, MA; her grandchildren, Melanie, Amanda, Steven, Aaron, Calvin, Erica, Isaac, Ethan, Whitney and Corey; her great grandchildren, Destiny, Jayden, Makenzie, Steven, Ella, Oliver, Mariah, Leah, Sophia, Addison, Charlotte and Ezra. She is also survived by her cousin and lifelong friend Helen Newsham.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Carole on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Fowler Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Her Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard.  Following the service, the burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard.
