Carl A. Cathcart

Carl A. Cathcart, age 85, of Westford, formerly of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2023, with his children and others at his side.

Carl was born in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, on November 22, 1937, son of the late Everett and Alvina (Anderson) Cathcart.  He was raised on the Cape. Carl graduated from Stockbridge School of Agriculture with a degree in Arboriculture in 1959.  He worked for Bartlett Tree Expert Co. for fifty years.  Carl started Plant Healthcare Consultants, Inc. in 1995.

Carl’s family and friends meant the most to him.  He loved all things plants and trees. Carl enjoyed dancing, judging the New England Flower Show, gardening, hunting, fishing, watching NE sport teams, Sunday dinners, trips to the Cape, Maine, NH, FL, NC, his camp in VT, sharing his passion and expertise of trees and plants with everyone.  He was a member of Massachusetts Arborist Association, American Society of Consulting Arborists, International Society of Arboriculture, and Massachusetts Horticultural Society and traveled extensively for industry events.

Carl is survived by his daughter, Kim Lalli and her husband Michael, his sons, Wess Cathcart and his partner, Suzan Foy, Daniel Cathcart and his wife, Miriam. Also, his grandchildren Kristine, Andrea, Gina, Jackie, Brendan, Andrew, Jordan, Campbell, Winston and great grandchildren Michael, Juliette, Patrick, and Hayden and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He's also survived by his sisters, Helen Ellis, Jeannette Rogers and her husband Frank, Ruth Byerly and Evelyn Abbott and her husband Michael.  Carl was predeceased by his sister, Gertrude Soares and his first wife, Rose Cathcart.

His graveside service will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, 68 Forge Village Road, Westford, MA 01886.   His Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Maynard-Clinton Lodge of Elks.
