Bobby Glen Hickman, age 93, of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024. He was the loving husband of Marion Noreen (Hartin) Hickman for 72 years. 

Bobby was born in Fort Worth, Texas on February 28, 1931, son of the late Carl G. SR., and Nova T. (Morrison) Hickman. He was raised and educated in Alvarado, Texas. Bobby and Marion married on July 5, 1951.

Bobby at a young age joined the Army and switched to the Navy shortly afterwards. His Navy adventures included many different national and international ports of call plus 9 different ships including the USS Boston which participated in the Cuban Missile Crisis blockade and the first nuclear powered attack ship, the USS Long Beach.

After his military career he and his wife decided to settle in Maynard in 1967 where he started as a Millwright at DEC (Digital) and worked his way up to being a Vendor Contractor Specialist. He retired after 22 years of service in 1989.

Bobby enjoyed woodworking, creating many wooden toys for his grandchildren. He also made miniature dollhouses and accessories for his wife and others that shared the same passion as him. He enjoyed collecting items from Texas, along with a large pin collection from his travels around the world. He enjoyed putting puzzles together and making his famous Country Fried Chicken and gravy for his family. 

Bobby is survived by his wife, Marion N. Hickman of Maynard, MA; his daughter, Virginia (Ginger) and husband Carl Gordon of Clinton, MA, his sister, Paula Davis of Austin Tx, his son-in-law, Mike Sylvia, his daughters-in- laws Ann Marie (Pizza) Hickman and Anne Hickman, his grandchildren: Christopher Gordon, Jessica and her husband Shamus Hughes, Valerie and James Paz, Ana Gordon, Carrie and her husband Patrick Lake, Sean and Anastya Sylvia, Rebecca Sylvia-Loftus, and Heather Leach-Steinmann and husband John Steinmann, and great-grandchildren Gabriella, Caulin and Harper Hughes, Griffin Paz, and Jake and Tayor Steinman and many nieces and nephews that reside in Texas.

Bobby was predeceased by his children, Elizabeth “Bethann” Ann Sylvia, Robert “Bobby” G. Hickman and James K “Kenny” Hickman, and his brother Carl G. Hickman Jr. 

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Bobby on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Burial will be private.
