Benjamin M. Hammel

Northborough

Benjamin M. Hammel, 47, of Northborough, MA, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.  Born and raised in Glens Falls, NY, he graduated from Glens Falls High School, with the class of 1993 and received a BS degree in 1997 from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.  Most recently, Ben worked for Microsoft Corporation as Director of Strategy.  He also volunteered his time on the Board of Directors at the Advanced Math and Science Academy for three plus years.

Family was the most important to Ben.  He cherished spending time with his children, Sophia and Charlie.   He was always on the run with each of them and loved every minute of it.   Softball games, baseball games, Bruins games, coaching the kids, fishing, golfing, hiking, skiing and board games were their favorite activities.  Ben’s favorite challenge was “try to beat dad.”   He constantly took photos to keep those memories alive.

Ben and his brothers shared so many good times together and his love of life always included his children, family, and so many friends.  He will be truly missed.

Benjamin is survived by his former wife, Sarah Hooper and mother of his children, Sophia G. and Charlie B. Hammel; his parents, Alfred L. Hammel and Jeanette H. Hammel of Glens Falls, NY; his brothers, Alfred H. Hammel and wife Sara B. of Northwest MT; James A. Hammel and wife Christine M. of Boston, MA; Jeffrey S.
