Allan A. Maki age 88, a life-long resident of Maynard passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 after a short stay at Wingate of Sudbury. He was the beloved husband of Frances (Leard) Maki who he married September 8, 1946.
Born in Concord on September 3, 1925 he was the son of the late Arvo and Hilja Maria (Juhola) Maki both immigrants of Finland.
Allan worked for many years as a supervisor and foreman at the General Motors assembly plant in Framingham he retired in 1978 after many years of hard work and dedication. During his employment Allan was an active member of the UAW #422 autoworkers union where he served as a union steward and committee man.
Allan was a respected outdoorsman and a lifetime member of the Maynard rod and gun as well as the Maynard Elks. He enjoyed the pleasures of hunting and fishing with his friends and sons. His other interests included music, golf and treasured his time with family.
Besides his wife, survivors include his children Alana Karkman of Stow, Allan R. Maki of Hudson and Eric A. Maki of Waltham. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Allan's life on Tuesday, Aug. 26 from 4-7 pm in the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord St., Maynard. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 am in Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard.
